I love biking...

Just around two weekends ago, I had the chance to be part of Ayala Center Cebu's Bike Out 2011. This activity is part of their "Green Advocacy" and given the number of participants, I would say was well received by the Cebuanos.

Thank God for those strong feet and legs...

I biked with college friend Jello Cubello of http://www.sidestreetwayfarer.blogspot.com/

Warming up before the bike run...

All set...

This is me arriving at the Finish Line after biking 22 kms.

An interesting group of people in Vintage Bikes.

First 200 participants get this shirt.

I was worried about not being able to finish the run, I went straight to the activity from a 9 hour graveyard shift. But luckily, I did. Looking forward to the next run. Thanks to Kent of http://grocerycouture.tumblr.com/ for coming and taking these pictures....

Gravity...

There are people who you never get over with... or choose not to. It doesn't take too much from them nor too long....This Sarah Bareilles song has been playing in my mind for the last few days and it's weird how it just speaks of how I exactly feel. Sharing with you the lyrics and the video below:

GRAVITY
Sarah Bareilles

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do, I still feel you here 'till the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.

CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/s/sara_bareilles/gravity.html ]
You loved me 'cause I'm fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.

CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

I live here on my knees as I
Try to make you see that you're
Everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe though I
Can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down
You're keeping me down, yeah, yeah, yeah
You're onto me, onto me and all over

Something always brings me back to you
It never takes too long

The Joys of Simply J's Cafe and Restaurant

Strategically located five minutes away from Ayala, this place is a must visit for its nice interiors and good but affordable food. It is a few meters across Parklane and just beside Diamond Suites Hotel.

We went there on a Saturday night and the place was packed. For dinners, I would suggest going there early since the place will most likely be packed and you would have to end up waiting for everyone else to finish to get yourself a table.

Here is what we had during our dinner. Food is good and very reasonably priced.

I wasn't able to get their contact number since the place was packed and I didn't want to keep the waiters away from serving other customers. Definitely worth checking. A meal for two should be around Php 600 to Php 1000 depending on the drinks and the dessert you order. The place may get a little crowded when full but adding more tables or increasing the restaurants size is gonna take away its cozy feel. Check it out.

What makes you special?

I have been awake for over 24 hours and while I was browsing through the net I chanced upon Benetton's It's My Time Global Fashion Community Campaign. Here is the campaign information as displayed in their website. www.casting.benetton.com :

GLOBAL FASHION COMMUNITY
It's My Time is now eternal. It was exciting and totally inspiring meeting more than 70,000 new friends, so we've decided to make It's My Time timeless. Permanent.

We are now thinking global and acting local: local casting events leading to more global campaigns.

The IMT website has been changing over time: you can see people country by country, like their profiles and post them on Facebook, share your personal blog and write your thoughts.

So the game is not over: we want to keep discovering hundreds of talent-brilliant people.

It’s never too late to get involved. Let's keep it going, be part of it!
English Italian French Spanish German Russian Portuguese
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for something different, something unconventional, something surprising, something real.
It's not just how you look but how you are.
HOW IT WORKS

Build a profile to express your style.
You only need to send one photo to start.
The rest is up to you.
The more you upload, the more chance you have to catch our attention.
Be creative. Show us what it means to be you and give us a window into your world.
Show the world your real self. IT'S MY TIME

And yes, I saw the other entries, and I know I am not going to get close to winning this competition... But my entry wasn't about winning, what really struck me was the question you need to answer for your contest profile which is "What makes you special?" It got me to think and here is it what I came up with:

Everything that I have been through makes me special. I have been through a lot of

things, a lot of them I am proud of and some I would rather say have learned lessons

from. These things and all have influenced my being, and shaped me to the person that I

am today. Just like the clothes I am wearing, my life changes everyday but through it all

is the fact that what I do reflects my choices and decisions just like what I choose to

wear...

Just before I go, allow me to ask you the same question: "What makes you special?". Happy SUNDAY everyone!

My Weekend Staycation + Merose's Bday

I spent my weekend at the Diamond Suites Hotel for two main reasons:
  • relax and try their Dream Pillows, this is supposed to aid you in sleeping and give you a good night sleep (I also didn't want to leave Cebu despite the long Labor Day weekend).
  • celebrate Merose's birthday

After some discussion and unpleasant booking experience with a travel agent (ahem!) to a 4 star hotel, me and my friends decided the next best option was Diamond Suites. They had a weekend promo rate of Php 2,000 per room, so we only had to spend a thousand each for two rooms for four people. They have fairly decent rooms with everything you need (I'm talking hot/cold shower, flat screen TV, wi-fi access, 5 minute walk to Ayala, swimming pool and a decent Pinoy breakfast). For the price they are asking, it is definitely a bargain.

Happy Birthday to Facebook's biggest user....

Just a note, some of the rooms do not have access to wi-fi, you can request them to transfer you to one with wi-fi access. And yes, the dream pillows weren't disappointing, they were definitely comfortable and relaxing.
