Just Saying...Basta Tuna. Dali Tuna!!!

Century Tuna PR schemes have become predictable. First they had KC and Piolo publicly announce their sisterhood and then this came out:

Then came Phil Younghusband publicly asked Angel Locsin for a date in Twitter before this came out:

Don't believe everything you see, don't eat everything they say!!! JUST SAYING.... Showbiz ra?!?!?! Or Dali ra??? Basta Tuna, Dali Tuna????

Good News...

I had so much fun at Kate and Cocoy's wedding last night. Talk about being blessed, Kate and Cocoy had the most beautiful weather anyone could wish for an afternoon garden wedding. It has been raining for the last few days, so I knew God planned this weather for their wedding.I will be posting pictures later.

Mario Maurer signs up with Penshoppe. Yes, Tong from The Love of Siam will soon be gracing the ads of this local brand. To those who have seen the movie and know him, you know why I am excited. And to those who don't, just look at the pictures.
To those who love coffee and have been drinking Bo's, good news for you!!! Enjoy Bo's brewed coffee for only Php 15.00 and their blended "Froccino drinks" for only Php. 50.00. The promo runs in certain hours every Tuesday and Thursday from June 28-July 21, 2011. Note: Bo's was the first coffee shop in IT Park, when there were only a handful of buildings in the area. Having worked in the area for seven years now, I have seen Bo's remain strong despite presence of competition with international franchises. Check their website at:
http://www.boscoffee.com/

It's officially the start of a beautiful weekend. Have fun everyone!!! :)

Mid Year Review...

The first half of 2011 is over, that’s 6 months, 26 weeks, a little around 180 days gone by...

Time flies so fast and it is easy to overlook the significant things that happened to us because we are either too preoccupied with what we still want to do or what other people are doing.

That said, I would like to look back at what happened to my life for the last six months:

·         I gave up smoking. I chose to be healthier and that means no more nicotine sticks during my office breaks, and after my meals.
·         I gave up a trip abroad and chose to stay here in the Philippines, close to my mom, my family and my friends.
·         I started working out. I am on my 3rd month in the gym, and my waistline is an inch smaller. Believe me it took so much effort to make that happen.
·         I made it a point to go home at least once a month, something I haven’t done for the last 7 years that I have been working.
·         I started out a new business venture with two of my friends.
·         I started blogging and will try to be consistent in updating.

I’m sure I have overlooked a few other things, but this is all I can think of for now.

Looking ahead, in the next 6 months I would like to:

·         Go on a vacation abroad.
·         Be more fit and continue working out.
·         Book more clients for our business.
·         Gain more followers in this blog.
·         And if it’s not too much to ask, pwede, LOVELIFE???

I guess I have shared enough, now it’s time for you to do your list.

How was your first half of 2011 spent? And what will the next half for you look like?

All About America

FOURTH OF JULY

Happy Independence Day America!!!  In celebration of their influence and help in uplifting the lives of many Filipina women and their families here is how I celebrated my 4th of July... Today was all about American influence for me.

If I am not mistaken the concept of a public/recreational pool was popularized if not introduced by the YMCA. According to history, the first reported YMCA “swimming bath” was built in New York City at the Brooklyn Central YMCA in 1885. The Brooklyn YMCA pool was 14 feet wide by 45 feet long and 5 feet deep. With that, I decided to take a dip in one of the pools not in the YMCA but one of the hotels here in Cebu.

And as promised, I had a burger and fries before doing some laps.

After a few hours, we started heading to S&R. Selling mostly American Brands though most of them are made in China, S&R has been everyone’s favorite store for affordable PX products. So there I was taking advantage of their bottomless soda for Php. 45.00, the roast chicken and their delicious ice cream.

I decided to pick up a box of White Castle Cheeseburger on my way out, yes, the burger from the popular American fast food chain.

I have been everywhere during the 3 day weekend, and my legs have been hurting. I decided to get a foot massage from Grand Royale Spa. I’m sure everyone is familiar with this place, but I have tried other branches, and the masseurs from the Banilad branch seem to give the most relaxing foot massage. Sa halagang Php 150, that’s already a 45 minute foot therapy which actually lasts for over an hour. Show your feet some love, it is worth it. I'm not sure whose influence the concept of the spa is, but I just wanted to talk about how I have been generally satisfied with the services of the Grand Royale BTC branch.

And now here I am, blogging... According to Wikipedia, the modern blog evolved from the online diary, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. Most such writers called themselves diarists, journalists, or journalers. A few called themselves "escribitionists". The Open Pages webring included members of the online-journal community. Justin Hall, who began eleven years of personal blogging in 1994 while a student at Swarthmore College, is generally recognized as one of the earliest bloggers. So there it is, another activity introduced and influenced by Americans.

With all of that, Thank you America, looks like I won’t last a day without something from you.

Great Finds Over the Weekend + Fourth of July

Just sharing with you some stuff I have found over the weekend...

EOS Lip Balm - I was finally able to get hold of one. EOS stands for Evolution of Smooth. I have the sweet mint flavor. I still prefer my dependable Burt Bee's Lip Balm, but the EOS packaging is really cute and you can play with it like a stress ball. See our beloved Chuck Bass smooching himself with an EOS.

From their website:
Can a lip balm make you smile? We think so. That's why we invented this one.

  • Long-lasting moisture
  • Shea butter & vitamin E
  • Smoothes on clear
  • New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips
  • Twist-off top
  • Gluten-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Petrolatum-free
  • Phthalate-free
eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.

You can visit their website for more information: http://www.evolutionofsmooth.com

SPRINGFIELD sale at the Ayala Mall. Great Items at Very Affordable Prices. A leather belt for less than Php.500, a windbreaker and men's long sleeve shirt at less than a thousand. In a country where there are only two seasons and the weather is very inconsistent, season sales are very helpful to the budget. The brand is Spanish and so is their website but some of the items here are found in their Ayala Center Cebu Shop: http://spf.com/

And finally, I wanna talk about Monte Carlo and Transformers. I watched both in Ayala over the weekend.

Monte Carlo is cute. But if you're saving, it is something you can just watch at home. The movie is something that can get you smiling for over an hour.  No rocket science review here, I will leave that to the experts. Bottomline, "Keri sya... but pwede lang pang DVD!" If you wanna be inspired to look beautiful and fabulous, the ladies wont disappoint you.

Transformers in 3D was worth the wait. This review is for its entertainment value, and yes, I must say it met expectations and better than its previous installments. The new girl is gorgeous and definitely gave justice as Megan Fox's replacement. I heard the IMAX version is superb, but the 3D version wasn't so bad either.
I personally don't like going to SM, it's most of the time crowded and far from where I live and that is why I am not so sad about missing the film in IMAX. And for this, yes I would suggest you watch it in the big screen.

Today is the Fourth of July, and for us here in the Philippines, the "Filipino-American Friendship Day".
My expat boss told me find a white guy and give him a hug. I told him I'm gonna celebrate it by having a quarter pounder for lunch. Happy Fourth of July America! Thank you for giving me one extra day to rest this week!
